Pilates

Pilates is a physical fitness system that was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Pilates was formed by Joe during the First World War with the intention to improve the rehabilitation programme for casualties. During this period, Pilates was designed to aid injured soldiers in regaining their health by strengthening, stretching, and stabilising key muscles.

Pilates classes build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone with an emphasis on lengthening the body and aligning the spine, rather than on bulking and shortening the muscles.

Pilates has a focus on the core which can basically be thought of as the ‘powerhouse’ of your body. Your core is the area between your shoulders and your pelvis (without your arms and legs) and encompasses all the muscles within this area. The essential intrinsic core muscles are your Transverse Abdominus, Pelvic Floor and Multifidus muscles which we learn to train as part of the Pilates method.

Bokwa

Bokwa workout is a group workout where participants illustrate alphabets, numbers and shapes on the floor with their feet, while performing a cardio workout routine, driven by pulsating rhythmic music. The name Bokwa stemmed from combining boxing (bo) with kwaito (kwa), a South African dance genre. However, Mavi’s goal was to come up with steps that anyone could master, so he later removed the kwaito style because the rhythms were too difficult for many to pickup.

“Bokwa fitness is as easy as A, B, C and 1, 2, 3…. All you need is a trainer who will cue out the next shape that you have to trace on the floor, either by using hand signals or shouting it out.” This form of exercise is relatively easier to follow as compared to highly choreographed formats like Zumba. People with two left feet will find Bokwa more doable. Essentially a cardio workout, it helps you lose the flab and get a toned body.

You can burn between 600 to 1,200 calories in a one-hour Bokwa session depending on the intensity.

Self Defense

Incorporate Fitness learn an effective self-defense system that emphasizes instinctive movements, practical techniques, and realistic training scenarios that provide students the tools they need to protect themselves in a minimal amount of time.

The best and most complete work-out for someone to use when training for self-defense is one that consists of compound exercises and exercises designed to strengthen one's core. Having a solid base is a must to one's survival when being attacked.

Yoga

Just like any other physical activity, yoga burns calories, though most styles do not burn energy at as high a rate as most other types of training.

We recommend a variety of training styles for the healthiest, most capable body; we don’t advise doing any one kind of training as a standalone. Yoga is a mind-body exercise that has it’s place in anyone’s routine, but strength training and cardio are still important for a well rounded foundation of fitness.

There are plenty of people who only do yoga to stay in shape, but studies have shown that the long list of benefits and the ability to maintain a lean, healthy body has more to do with the yoga lifestyle than the workouts themselves. Healthy eating, proper stress management, meditation and mindset are just a few of the lifestyle elements that should be taken into consideration, along with the workouts.
